Awakening to Justice

We Will All Be Held Accountable....

~written from the common sense perspective of The Winds of the Soul~

by Dr. Gregory C.D. Young, Ph.D.(Oxon.)

In a very troubling period of time, Federal Judges have been summarily broadening their power base, and in essence, making laws by issuing edicts from the bench without the authority of the people, having never been elected to represent any of the people, nor given the power to singularly dictate to us what our laws should be.

For the past 50 years, the Judicial arm of the Government of the USA has been slowly eroding away the powers of the Legislature and systematically stripping the Congress of its power to decide the issues of race, religion and morality.

In a very troubling period of time, Federal Judges have been summarily broadening their power base, and in essence, making laws by issuing edicts from the bench without the authority of the people, having never been elected to represent any of the people, nor given the power to singularly dictate to us what our laws should be.

Through their myopic, self-serving, and liberal perspective, they have systematically been overturning the intent of the people, usurping the powers of our duly elected law-makers, powers which were specifically kept from being included in their job description.

But finally, it seems that Congress may be responding. A day before Congress left town for a six-week recess, it started to dust off a long-neglected weapon put in Article III of the US Constitution, the House passing the Marriage Protection Act (MPA) 233 to 194. This bill would deny "all federal courts, including the Supreme Court, jurisdiction to rule on the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act."  Briefly the passage of this bill challenges the interference of liberal judges, redefining their bounds of authority.

In fact, according to the Constitution of the USA, the specific powers of all judges, including those comprising the Supreme Court, are expressly limited by Article III, ensuring that the legislature is the only body to craft and make laws, and are solely responsible for establishing, defining, and circumscribing the intent of its interpretation----Judges are not to be so involved.

Nevertheless, we have witnessed a growing trend of powerful liberal Federal Judges unilaterally changing the laws, and the cultural values, of our country, rudely changing the published intentions of legislatures, as well as reinterpreting the salient directions left to us from our forefathers..., all to suit their own liberal agendas.

Recently, through such judicial boldness and loose-canon action, our judges have since sought to redefine Marriage to be a union between any consenting parties, including homosexuals and apparently whomever and whatever else may soon petition for such inclusion.

Yet, having since brazenly disregarded the sanctity of developing human life, banned prayer from school while maintaining the defunct and impugned theories of Darwinian evolution, and methodically removed any religious or historical reference of our Judeo-Christian foundation from our history books and public places, should we be so surprised that their efforts have not abated, but have increased?

Do we need to remind ourselves that these individuals and groups have consistently proven that they believe it is their right to thwart the historical will of the people by their socialistic rulings?  Should we not finally awaken to their agenda..., namely, to remove any evidence that our culture is Judeo-Christian based, and forever change the reasons why this country has been so prosperous, removing us from the very reasons for our blessings from the Father of Heaven and Earth?

But finally, it seems that Congress may be responding. Believe it or not, a day before Congress left town for a six-week recess, it started to dust off a long-neglected weapon put in Article III of the U.S. Constitution, the House passing the Marriage Protection Act (MPA).

So touted, this bill would deny all federal courts, including the Supreme Court, jurisdiction to rule on the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act.  Briefly the passage of this bill challenges the interference of liberal judges, redefining their bounds of authority.

The precipitated question is asking, "Who is given the authority to say what any law means and how it is to be used....,  unelected justices...., or elected Congressmen, Senators, and Presidents?  Shouldn't such decisions be made constitutionally by the 50 states and democratically by legislators rather then dictatorially by judges?

Moreover, if the MPA passes the Senate and is signed into law by President Bush, the stage for a long-awaited historical showdown will have been set----Not just over gay marriage, but over whether the Federal Courts, including the Supreme Court, will ever again have the final say over whether a law conforms to the Constitution and how broad its interpretation may be.

Indeed, what this means is that Congress has finally begun to act to restrict the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and all Federal Judges, telling all courts to keep their hands off such issues as abortion, school prayer, the Ten Commandments, and gay marriage, to name just a few.

The significance of this bill in terms of the balance of power in government cannot be overstated.

Thus, the line is being redrawn in the sand!

Obviously, these proceedings have immediate explosive potential, and Liberals are already accusing the House for brushing aside "warnings that the measure is unconstitutional and would open the floodgates for efforts to prevent judges from "ruling" on other issues, from gun-control to abortion," as reported in the Washington Post.

But that's the very idea, Jack!  Don't you get it?

According to the Us Constitution, Judges are not to extend their rulings into law making!  Like umpires in a baseball game, they are simply employed to call the game----not to change the measure of the game by adding or subtracting from the rules of play, as they have been doing with our national laws.  They are not called by the U.S. Constitution to destabilize the critical balance of powers the people have given in stewardship to the government.  They are not called to unilaterally rewrite the rule book---especially since they don't have to answer to anybody!

Page 3

All of this portends the following:  DOMA, the 1996 law that says no state need recognize same-sex unions established by other states, will hereafter, if signed into law, be unchallengeable.  So, for example, if Massachusetts still decides it's okay to grant marriage licenses to homosexuals----although these gay marriages may sue under the "full faith and credit" clause of the Constitution to have their "marriages" recognized in other states----no state has to recognize the legality of such "marriages," and more importantly, no U.S. judge would thereafter be permitted to take up those potential cases.  Game over!

So, this latest action by the House means to recapture the lawmaking power usurped by black-robed, arrogant and liberal judicial elitists, and restore these powers back into the hands of our elected legislators, where our forefathers have meant them to reside.  In this way the nature and substance of our laws rests ultimately in the power of us, the "people"----not the judges.

To be sure, this is exactly how it was before the court began to exploit its so-called right of judicial review----a power grab first initiated by Chief Justice John Marshall in Marbury v. Madison----to impose a liberally social revolution on America, a revolution rooted in the obsequious non-majority values of Warren, Blackman, Brennan, Douglas, Thurgood Marshall and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a point recently made clear by Pat Buchanan.

Game over!

The toppling of the tyranny of our "Judicial Dictatorship" may have just begun!

Now let's change gears.... Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for those comparable authorities in the high places of the world's religions.  To this day, just as their judicial counterparts have been practicing, the liberal forces and ideologies of the world are slowly eroding the basis and values of most religions in the world.

Called to be stewards, at best, they now try to remake the Laws of God, recast the Lord's Commandments into something resembling their own image rather than Heaven's, change the words of His prophets to suit their own causes rather than remain faithful to the intentions of the Lord, and pollute the inheritance of God from ever entering the ears of the children of men.  Just like their civil equivalents, the worlds' preachers, pastors, priests, rabbis, monks and mullahs, etc. seek to rewrite the laws they have been pledged to protect and defend.  All seem to be leaning increasingly more "left," more populist, more Religiously Correct.

Can't you see the pattern?

Although I hear the words of the Gospel being repeated, I rarely hear these words being Spiritually understood.  Why then, I ask, is it that many denominations lean towards embracing and normalizing homosexuality, feminism, and other unbalanced knee-jerk philosophies, polluting the words of Christ with man-made doctrines of the self-absorbed?

Of other religions, I am less proficient to speak.  But of Christianity I can.  Through the years, I have witnessed the perplexities of different faiths attempting to reconcile their differences to "One Faith," all while attempting to fill their collection plates, or improve their ratings, or extend their questionable influence.

Perhaps it's too bad that we don't have a comparable force as the Congressional House in our religious institutions to reign-in our religious authorities from furthering defaming the intentions of the Lord and God of the Universe by continually broadcasting and changing the representation of His Word to fit their distorted views.

But better thinking prevails us to see that, as it is with the abuse practiced by our civil authorities, perhaps we are more personally to blame than anyone else for the deterioration of our religious values and the wrongful changing of Spiritual creeds to fit the convenience of a confused culture.  Indeed, this is a responsibility that few of us have the courage to face, or want to be involved.

I could go on and on about this, but for now, I will turn to a section in my new, soon-to-be-released book, The Winds of Forgiveness ~ Heaven's Healing Promises, which I believe succinctly lays bear the reasons for our being out of the Way.  Jumping right in, it reads:

".... I have found to a large degree that “denominational” Christianity today has often worked only to misrepresent and suppress the Truth and quiet of the joyous doctrine that was first given—parsing, defacing, and disfiguring the message’s true design, disproportioning its fair shape and intention, marring its beauty, maligning its intelligence and heartfelt priorities. All such distortions have worked to make the original message less attractive and disappointing, succeeding only in impairing billions from becoming aware of the true character of God, souring the milk and turning them away from the Fountain of all Peace. So much of what is taught today is rudely false and precariously off the mark, yet found socially appropriate, acceptable, and Religiously Correct (RC) such that the true vitality and splendor of the Man of Galilee has become lost to us.

No wonder the world remains in disbelief, for modern Christendom has come to make its interpretation of His Gospel an obfuscation of the Truth, making His Message so confused and opaque as to be difficult to perceive or understand, while rendering Him as someone liberally indistinct, weak, and ineffectual—an unpalatable, commercialized, Hollywood wanna-be superstar trivialized and groomed to appeal to the masses, an oddity that is wholly discordant to the Divine personage He is. In allowing Him to be so demeaned within our own minds and hearts, we have carelessly closed the door upon His entering, no longer proving capable of sharing in His vision, having lost the fullness of our desiring the Life that He promises. As a result we have become incrementally deaf and blind, believing only upon seeing, suffering the attenuations of the Spirit within a mindless sedation while being none the wiser of our handicap.

Page 5

Is it any wonder that many have been led to view Christianity as an often shrill, failed, and sycophantic diatribe, something grotesque and dry to the heart, dull and lifeless to the Spirit, a dirge to Life itself?

Doubtless, many of us have forgotten the manner in which the necessities of the Gospel Message have come to be through the great condescension of God, and most particularly how Repentance and Forgiveness have come to be afforded us. Our memories so dimmed, our view of these things has become more fancy than fact—unbelievable even to those who profess the faith of Christianity as their own, rivaling the disbelief of atheists and scoffers who stand to mock the train of those attempting to follow Him. We have long forgotten the merits of these Principles, believing that they, like a vaccine for an extinct disease, needn’t be trifled with any longer. Further inoculated with our pride and estranged from the realities of our inner world, we feel ourselves beyond the need of the Physicians healing hand, never again examining the depths of Humility, Repentance, and Forgiveness so necessary for our spiritual welfare. So contented that He must surely be pleased with us as we are, we pride ourselves foolishly, vainly believing that we are “the” welcomed and cherished of Heaven.

But truth be known, it’s often only today’s Christians who see themselves so acceptable and clean, feigning a purity that is not their own. To be sure, even the “heathen” are moved to distance themselves from the overpowering stench that arises from within the “Christian Camp”—even these know when things are unclean. I humbly concur with so many others over the ages who rightfully saw that the propagation of many mistaken ideas about God and the flagrant misrepresentations of His Words and doctrine are more the indubitable fault of those who would call themselves Christians than those of the world, as some would have us believe. In so far as our errant superstitions and prideful falsehoods withstand correction and repentance, these disfigurements remain a bottleneck and stumbling block; an ensign of disrepute from which others anxiously and apprehensively keep their distance.

Is it any wonder that many have been led to view Christianity as an often shrill, failed, and sycophantic diatribe, something grotesque and dry to the heart, dull and lifeless to the Spirit, a dirge to Life itself? Indeed, just like the ancient scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees who egocentrically counted themselves worthy of Heaven but abjured their need of repentance, many of today’s so-called active and modern Christians are often smugly self-satisfied as well, erroneously believing that they are God’s favored example to men. But like their “fathers” before them, they are salt that has lost its savor, refusing to enter the doorway in which they pompously and pretentiously stand, blocking the way from others while arrogantly shutting up the Kingdom of Heaven against men.

The author George MacDonald, through the particular voice of one of his fictional characters, a Curate in the Church of England in his splendid novel, “Thomas Wingfold, Curate;” (1876), strikes to the heart of the matter, most emphatically and boldly stating over a hundred years ago:

Page 6

“I tell you, and speak to each one of whom it is true, that you hold and present such a withered, starved, miserable, death’s-head ideas of Christianity; that you are yourself such poverty-stricken believers, if believers you are at all; that the notion you present to the world as your ideal is so common-place, so false to the grand, gracious, mighty-hearted Jesus—that you are the cause why the truth hangs its head in patience, and rides not forth on the white horse, conquering and to conquer.

(ibid. A Sermon to Leopold) “...If he [Christ] were to come again visibly, now, which do you think would come crowding around him in greater numbers—the respectable church-goers or the people from the slums [meaning: the publicans and sinners, the degraded, disfigured, defiled and distorted]? I do not know. I dare not judge. But the fact that the church draws so few of those that are despised, of those whom Jesus drew and to whom most expressly he came, gives ground for question as to how far the church is like her Lord. Certainly many a one would find the way to the feet of the Master from whom the respectable churchgoer, the Pharisee of our time, and the priest who stands on his profession, would draw back with disgust. And doubtless it would be in the religious world that a man like Jesus, who, without a professional education, a craftsman by birth and early training, uttered scarce a phrase endorsed by clerical use, or a word of the religious cant of the day, but taught in the simplest natural forms the eternal facts of faith and hope and love, would meet with the chief and perhaps the only bitter opponents of his doctrine and life....”

(ibid. A Curates’ Resolve)  “The waves of infidelity are coming in and with a strong wind and a flowing tide. Who is to blame? God it cannot be, and for unbelievers, they are as they were. It is the Christians who are to blame. I do not mean those who are called Christians, but those who call and count themselves Christians.”

You dull its luster in the eyes of men; you deform its fair proportions; you represent not that which it is, but that which it is not, yet call yourselves by its name; you are not the salt of the earth, but a salt that has lost its savour, for ye seek all things else first, and to that seeking the kingdom of God and his righteousness shall never be added.”

“Until you repent and believe afresh, believe in a nobler Christ, namely the Christ reveled by himself, and not the muffled form of something vaguely human and certainly not all divine, which the false interpretations of men have substituted for him, you will be as, I repeat you are, the main reason why faith is so scanty in the earth, and the enemy comes in like a flood. For the sake of the progress of the truth, and that into nobler minds than yours, it were better if you joined the ranks of the enemy, and declared what I fear with many of you is the fact, that you believe not at all.”

“But whether in some sense you believe or not, the fact remains, that, while you are not those Christians who obey the word of the master, doing the things he says to them, you are of those Christians, if you will be called by the name, to whom he will say, ’I never knew you: go forth into the outer darkness.’ Then at least will the church be rid of you, and the honest doubter will have room to breathe the divine air of the presence of Jesus.”

Because of the reproachful “sting” of MacDonald’s words, do we think these things too harsh, or perhaps confabulated? I think not... In fact, to this I say, “Amen, and amen!” How often have our mistaken notions and prejudices obscured the view of the Truth? How many times has our dull and lifeless “faith,” and the modern-day sycophantic notions of a superficial but “feel-good-hot-tub-Christianity,” been the means to turn others away from the Truth?  How regularly have our own poverties and misdirections of belief “deformed the Gospel’s fair proportions?”

The bottom line is that we are the ones responsible for the laws we choose to understand and follow.  We are responsible, and will be held responsible, for those things we choose to misrepresent and demean, or those things we choose to honestly and sincerely try to understand and live by, being held accountable as to whether we ultimately ask God for His Understanding, or lean unto our own self-absorbed interpretations.  We cannot ask others to make right what we have deceptively hid from His Light and asked to remain wrong.  We must remember that whether it is in the civil or religious worlds, God is watching us....
