The Mark of the Beast...

Could this be the "Number" we've been warned about?....

~written from the common sense perspective of The Winds of the Soul~

by Dr. Gregory C.D. Young, Ph.D.(Oxon.)

to the book

In line with what I wrote last month, I would like now to more formally suggest that Liberalism is part of the Biblical prophecies concerning the Latter Days, and most particularly as it is mentioned in the Book of Daniel and later in the New Testament.

I know that I've spoken about Liberalism in the past, but I have yet shared with you some of my deeper suspicions concerning this perverse ideology, especially concerning the times in which we live.

In line with what I wrote last month, I would like now to more formally suggest that Liberalism is part of the Biblical prophecies concerning the Latter Days, and most particularly as it is mentioned in the Book of Daniel and later in the New Testament.

As you may know, the Book of Daniel presents the record of writings and visions granted to Daniel, a loyal Jew, who with the rest of Israel were living in exile in Babylonia during the 6th century BCE; the background of surviving in a "Liberal" society was tantamount in understanding Daniel's documentation.

The conflict between the religion of the Jews and the paganism of their foreign rulers is the basic theme of the Daniel's writings, documenting two differing ideologies:  one authored by God, and the other authored by men.

The apocalyptic visions given to Daniel were meant to show Israel that even though evil in the world might lead men to despair, God's predetermined purpose could not be frustrated..., assuring Israel then (and now), though subjected to Babylonian law and culture, that the superiority of God's wisdom would eventually prevail, demonstrating that the God of Israel will triumph over all earthly kings and will rescue his faithful ones from their persecutors.

According to this vision, one of the most important signs of the "last times" is the ushering in of what is referred to as the "abomination of desolation," the specific frame of reference Daniel outlines in the telling of the coming of the "last days"

In one of Daniel's must succinct although highly symbolic visions, the topic of the unfolding of the "last days" was given center stage, warning Israel what was to come regarding the showdown between God's Will and the vain ideologies of men.  According to this vision, one of the most important signs of the "last times" is the ushering in of what is referred to as the "abomination of desolation," the specific frame of reference Daniel outlines in the telling of the coming of the "last days":

{Daniel 12:11-13} 11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice {i.e., daily prayer and obedience to His Spirit} shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh {Hebrew: or causes, leads to, or astonisheth} desolate set up {Hebrew: to cause the precursors and structure of abomination}, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12 Blessed is he that waiteth {i.e., endureth), and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. 13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

And again, Daniel's prophecy of the "last days" and the abomination of desolation which was to come was given new significance when again referred to by Jesus in answering his disciples on the Mount of Olives as to how to recognize when the last times shall be:

{Matthew 24:3,11-15; KJV}   3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? ....

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

So, having read this, how and what are we to understand by it?  What is this "abomination that maketh desolate?"  What are we talking about here?  What kind of thing will be so much of an abomination that it leads any that follow it to a state or condition of desolation?  What abomination will be "set-up" (as is translated from the Hebrew) or become established so as to "astonish" (ibid. Hebrew) us so much that we'll be dumbfounded....  Perhaps because those following the dictates of such an abomination which is "set-up," rather than result in Spiritual fruitfulness or prosperity that it originally promises, will actually cause complete desolation?  To be sure, are we not often astonished when "what" we think should happen, does not?

Page 2

Not that I disagree with those interpretations that lead us to expect some grand events will occur... but most people don't consider that this Abomination of Desolation could be something that is initially more abstract, camouflaged through the normalizing influences of cultures and societies, likely more immediately intrusive in our lives than we give credence, as well as more insidiously pervasive.

Many people try to interpret the abomination of desolation to mean that something is going to happen..., that there will be something extraordinary in the news that will cause us all to fearfully pause..., such as the unfolding of a new world government, a "new world order," or the appearance of the anti-Christ accompanied by the seductive signs and great (though deceptive) miracles which will occur at his bidding, perhaps also including the transformation of existing religious organizations into a "church" which will become evilly disposed.

Rather, it seems to me that in considering this meaning of Abomination of Desolation, we're talking first and foremost about an ideology, an ideology that will powerfully influence everything it touches, to the end of working to twist everything that is right and "good" into something that is wrong and perverted, even that which brings about "desolation."  It would be something that would probably precede any tangible social structure, organization, or personage, an ideology that perhaps would then allow the latter to be willingly but unwittingly ushered in within our time without a hitch.

As I see it, the burgeoning influences, aberrant teachings, and worldly rewards that spread from this nefarious ideology would stealthily translate into our social, cultural, and religious norms almost without detection.  So much so that at first there would be few that would even become alarmed of its social penetration, perceptively unaware of the portending dark consequences.

So infected, this abomination of an ideology would also likely but vainly promise and promote world peace and happiness after its own twisted fashion..., all the while simultaneously seeking to change the ways and means of Judeo-Christian life style and silently sweep away the God given Traditions of our forbearers, leaving us without Spiritual foundation.  That's what I think we should be looking for....

Page 3

Well, you've probably already guessed where I'm going....  Indeed, I believe it is none other than that particular Secular Liberal Ideology that I have been writing about for some time now, an ideology that now extends beyond political party lines and Judeo-Christian denominations.  In my opinion, although generally more practiced more by the Left, the lines are now becoming so fuzzy that many on the Right have chosen to subscribe to Leftist Liberal ideology as well in the hopes of appearing more moderate.

And what could this ideology be you ask?

Well, you've probably already guessed where I'm going....  Indeed, I believe it is none other than that particular Secular Liberal Ideology that I have been writing about for some time now, an ideology that now extends beyond political party lines and Judeo-Christian denominations.  In my opinion, although generally more practiced more by the Left, the lines are now becoming so fuzzy that many on the Right have chosen to subscribe to Leftist Liberal ideology as well, perhaps in the hopes of appearing more moderate.

Nevertheless, this ideology alone, more than any other, appears to reign rampant throughout the world, and in consequence, has of late attempted to govern the world's direction, constraining through its insidious international mandates (read: United Nations) the use of all our intellectual and material resources.  By way of its deceptively perverse political agendas, nothing about our education, law, as well as our arts and sciences have gone untouched by its malignant influences.

Yet, the proof of Liberalism's failed ideology is all around us.  We don't have to look far to validate its poisonous effects.  Just note how many failed despotic Socialistic regimes there are and have been around the world, and the inhumane suffering of people that these caused and continue to sustain.

Back at home, within the last 50 years, we have all witnessed this ideology first becoming ensconced within the propagandized rhetoric of the Elite Media, then growing to become "Politically Correct" in our culture, and lastly, seamlessly and quietly enacted as "law," over-turning common sense and the precedent of the U.S. Constitution in the process.

Witness the movement to remove all Judeo-Christian religion and reference from the public square and public history, the removal of the "daily sacrifice" (as foretold by Daniel) of prayer and acknowledgment of God removed from our schools, the Liberal hijacking of public education, including our Universities and Colleges where conservative views are punished academically, to the end of supplanting Judeo-Christian values and intelligence for the poverty of Liberalism in its place.

Note, too, how Liberalism's insidious workings in the last 50 years have failed, including the repressive effects of its welfare programs and other family-dissolving policies such as the continual promotion of gay marriage and the attempts to normalize homosexuality and abortion on demand..., all under the guise of promising us a freer and fairer society, but all of which surreptitiously has been aimed at undercutting and destroying the traditional Judeo-Christian family value structure, the very thing which holds our nation together.

Just connect the dots and the picture becomes very clear... and it's not just coincidence.  May I suggest that today's Liberalism may be categorized as an "abomination," an "abomination" succinctly because of what it lyingly promises and never can possibly deliver.

Page 4

Mind you, I don't think this categorization of Liberalism too harsh....  For shouldn't any ideology that deceptively and disgracefully leads its followers to states of wretched desolation by reason of its broken promises, practically be thought of as an "abomination," since it deceptively misleads others as pawns to positions of spiritual and temporal bleakness, despair, and devastation?  So, if not an "abomination," then what?

Mind you, I don't think this categorization of Liberalism too harsh....

For shouldn't any ideology that deceptively and disgracefully leads its followers to states of wretched desolation by reason of its broken promises, practically be thought of as an "abomination," since it deceptively misleads others as pawns to positions of spiritual and temporal bleakness, despair, and devastation?  So, if not an "abomination," then what?

Don't we consider a defaulted Pension Fund or an Insurance Company's failure to payoff its policy holders, repugnant and disgraceful, especially when management makes off with millions out the back door?  And wouldn't those wrongful if not criminal financial practices, procedures, and ideologies that caused such insolvency be considered a scam, even an "abomination?"

Has Liberalism not become, in a sense, a form of "false prophesying" as well..., asserting itself to be an assuring and stable predictive ideology, though shamefully leading others to expect and believe in an outcome which it cannot possibly fulfill?

The bitter fruits of Liberalism are saliently before us.  Just open your eyes.  Any objective analysis will bear it out.  Moreover, who cannot see that Liberalism now seeks to nefariously negate the very Spiritual and religious foundations of our families (and subsequently our country), those very tenets (and their sacred institutions that spring therefrom) that have been primarily responsible for our freedoms in the first place?

To be sure, the times in which we live are clearly marked by a unrelenting Liberal movement which sole directive is to supplant the most inspired, balanced, and ingenious God-given system on this earth, to undermine an ideology which has proven to be the most effective, fruitful, and civilizing influence for the good of all mankind for millennia.

And in its place, we are offered nothing more in return but a cheap wanna-be substitute: Namely a man-made system of Liberalism that has a no record of success, but only a history of providing misery and poverty for those who have previously and stupidly embraced its devious course;  one that is an Abomination that leads to (or "maketh") Desolation.  Seems to fit, doesn't it?

Indeed, the true measure of Liberalism's failures are finally becoming "outed."  It is finally becoming seen for what it is, the real "enemy within."  It is an Abomination of an ideology which conspires to overthrow the very basis of our freedoms, slowly but methodically dissolving our righteous defenses against evil and our moral resolve towards "Goodness," perhaps more thoroughly than could an armed enemy at our gates.  And indeed, as of late, Liberalism has without conscience, aided and abetted our foreign enemies purposes and pleasures.

Page 5

Make no mistake about it.  Today's Secular Liberal Ideology is an unrelenting infectious Marxism, a invasive metastasizing Socialism that promises only to make its citizenry more and more slavishly dependent upon its failed though enshrined policies and institutions, all while dismantling our personal freedoms.

This is not a false warning.  Liberalism is an abomination which seeks to infiltrate a culture's mindset, our churches and schools, and then our government and political thought, so as to make all things modeled after its pattern..., its Liberal philosophical image being found replicated within the thoughts and minds of its followers..., imprinted and cloned within their mindset, becoming a fundamental way of selfish thinking for the narcissistically inclined and readily self-absorbed..., almost like a "mark" being figuratively placed upon and within the foreheads of its followers..., even the Liberals of the self-important Kum-ba-ya generation.  It becomes the basis of activities for their busy hands, directing their affairs, making deals in politics and business with the authorities of a right-handed hand-shake.

In fact, Liberalism does leave a "mark" of sorts, as well as doubling as an ethereal form of a "power card" which consummates if not enables many transactions to occur.  Indeed, Liberalism is the basis of a lot of what's going on out there today, a way of life for the "movers and shakers."  It has become an accepted means by which many worldly things become accomplished----not having those means being a handicap and shortcoming.  It is a subtle way of business and political networking, making many new converts and followers for the promise of financial results and social success which are sure to follow.

I know this is just conjecture, but dare I say it?  Could this in some way be a precursor, or even what the "mark of the Beast" is to truly represent, as is written in Revelation?

{Revelation 13:16-17 KJV} 16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive {to receive: Greek, meaning, to give them} a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Quite indirectly, and perhaps unintentionally, this beguiling "mark" of Liberalism has been spoken about for years from a host of intellectually sound, brave, daring, and bold conservative media pundits, such as the intrepid William Buckley, my fellow Oxford alumni George Will and Charles Krauthammer, the perspicacious Dennis Prager and the hypertensive Dr. Michael Savage, Phyllis Shlafly, Rush and David Limbaugh, Dr. Thomas Sowell, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Dr. William Bennett, George Neumayr, R. Emmit Tyrell, and the not to be forgotten Col. Oliver North and the ever-energetic Sean Hannity, just to mention and acknowledge some of my clear favorites.

These and many others of their ken should be applauded and supported, for I believe that they do the clarion work of the Almighty (whether knowingly or unknowingly it matters not) staunchly defending the way of Truth while clarifying for us all the ways of wickedness which is among us.  I owe them all a debt of gratitude for I have been well instructed and much comforted by them all.

And even though desolation and ruin are the only things that have been saliently found in its wake, the outright scam of Liberal ideology continues to rise like cream to the surface..., almost supernaturally being accepted as the defining ethos of our time.  Moreover, despite the reality that Liberalism has never delivered on the fruit it promises, it frighteningly still maintains an undeserved, almost holy, reverential regard within our world.

Now, one would think that given a history of proven and fully documented policy failures, there wouldn't be many that would continue to support or further advance such a failed ideology.  But that's not the case with Liberalism.

As we've come to witness, despite Liberalism's clearly documented history of policy failures and cultural disasters, including all the social and religious catastrophes "inspired" by Liberalism clearly being evidenced within our own society, it paradoxically continues to gain in popularity, power, and influence.

Though any objective analysis proves that Liberal Ideology has rarely if ever benefited any people, never enhanced or protected their freedoms, nor made any country economically prosperous, it still is exalted as the wisdom of the Elite and has rarely suffered any popular cultural deflation.

To be sure, albeit none of Liberalism's ideology has proven useful or beneficial, nevertheless, its Tefloned image has been preserved and maintained, never having suffered the slings of arrows, never having been maimed or disfigured.  Perhaps due to its insular demagoguery, it resists any form of tarnish or insult.

Despite the consummate and unbiased proofs that this abomination of an ideology only results in desolation, it continues today unfettered by legitimate criticism, protected by an Elite Media around the world.  Clearly, with the help and promotion of the International Liberal Media, these lies are continually perpetuated through the means of publishing unrelenting disinformation.  And in the process, everything becomes redefined so as to confuse and further mislead the audience.

So, beware of Liberals continually seeking to redefine everything so as to distort meaning for their cause.  It's their pattern.  They are consummate experts in distorting language and meaning within their rhetoric, turning everything upside down and backwards in confusion through their practiced lying slight of hand..., when, for instance, redefining conservative judges as "activists" who seek to preserve the original intent of the Constitution, especially when it means overturning previous liberal "activist" interpretations which have no credible link to the document itself...,  tediously playing the childish switcheroo mind-game of: "I know you are, but what am I?"

And, these dysfunctional patterns have also been keenly disrobed and astutely observed recently by Rush Limbaugh on the Liberals position of being against the death penalty but vehemently for abortion, stating humorously that "the inconsistencies of the Liberal position can be simplified to spare the guilty and condemn the innocent."

In speaking further about the template of Liberal absurdity, Rush points out the ploy of Liberal legal accusations against the Right in idiotically touting how "the seriousness of the charge actually trumps the lack of evidence."  In other words, in the Liberal mind, "accusation" is more powerful than the finding that one is actually guilty or innocent:  "Accusation alone is itself proof of guilt----any subsequent findings, especially those that prove the opposite, can be summarily dismissed."  How telling.... see how "justice" becomes just another plaything for their distorted amusement.

But most importantly, as the prophets have warned us, now is the time more than any other, to stand in "holy places," putting on the whole armor of God.  And armed with such intelligence, let us not be beguiled into believing that Liberalism, no matter its sanitized versions, offers anything more than what it has in the past..... failure and the promise of desolation for any that follow its misbegotten creeds.
