Our Moral Heritage Under Attack?
How the Basis of our Country is Being Openly Hijacked....
~written from the common sense perspective of The Winds of the Soul~
by Dr. Gregory C.D. Young, Ph.D.(Oxon.)

I am often disturbed by the pervasive agenda of declining morality today, what with all the proponents of separation of church and state, gay rights, and the continuing bashing of conservatism, no matter to what political party it may be temporarily ascribed. As we celebrate the birthday of the USA this month, and in the wake of 9-11 and all the international criticisms, I wonder how others feel about how this great and daring experiment has gone so far? And to what do they ascribe the list of successes and failures of our nation? It's interesting to note that few if any that propose such changes understand the incontrovertible connection that exists between the moral standards and their respective priorities first established by our Founding Forefathers, and the blessings that we still experience today.

|But the extraordinary fact remains, although many there are that would like us to forget same, that this form of government has not only endured, but prospered exceedingly, no matter the obvious problems that we face. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to connect the dots to see the cause and effect of the sound morality of Judeo-Christian values (moral standards which have been repeatedly proven over thousands of years of use) and the personal and cultural prosperity that results.||
Perhaps I see things too simply, but I cannot help but point out again (and indeed celebrate!) that this Republic has been guided by the Judeo-Christian standard from the inception of the Declaration of Independence to the adoption of our Constitution. Quite amazingly, no other modern nation on earth has been so inspired, nor so brave as to actually allow the Ten Commandments and Biblical wisdom to be the foundation of all our laws.
When first conceived, most others thought us to be careless and naive to even hope to establish such a nation based on such "religious" tenets. To allow such freedom of expression with the hope that greater good rather than evil would come from it, was flatly rejected by all other countries. Indeed, there are still many nations that will not see these truths, and continue to establish despotic governments under the guise of better caring for their people.
But the extraordinary fact remains, although many there are that would like us to forget same, that this form of government has not only endured, but prospered exceedingly, no matter the obvious problems that we face. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to connect the dots to see the cause and effect of the sound morality of Judeo-Christian values (moral standards which have been repeatedly proven over thousands of years of use) and the personal and cultural prosperity that results. This is especially obvious when contrasting the results of this nation with those that have followed other non-Judeo-Christian systems of government.
Although the media elite and other socially liberal critics keep trying to change the moral foundation of our country in a myriad of ways, they cannot show that some other system has ever worked as good, or indeed, better. Yet they continually try to tortuously modify the basic tenets of morality, or indeed dismiss them entirely, that have since served us so very well, as if there is no connection between them and the life and culture which they have subsequently enabled. What they don't seem capable of acknowledging or grasping in the least is the fact that the moral standards of this nation have worked as our foundation---and have worked so powerfully, efficiently, and successfully---whereas the underlying value structures of other competing systems have always failed! One cannot help but see that their blindness has always been self-serving, and the disconnect they embrace is a major one!
|They knew that the Ten Commandments, and indeed the Gospel of Christ, was central to our God-given rights for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They made no apologies for that, for they saw clearly that true freedoms could only be ensured by a people that respected and embraced the Bible as being a sacred text. Further, they also knew that no denomination "owned" the words of God, and that accordingly, no one denomination should have influence in State Government above that of another.||
But argue with success, they still will! Through distraction and disinformation, anti-morality agents have argued that no sign of "religion" should be seen or referenced within the nation's or state's government, continually touting the ideas of State needing to be separated from Church. Yet, from the beginning, the Founding Fathers only intention for us was to keep the "denominational government of Churches" separated from the "government of the State," noting that in other countries where one or another denominational concerns became intermingled with the State, people suffered. So they sought to draw a line in the sand so that no Church Government or denominational hierarchy would ever be allowed to influence or have power over the State.
However, in saying so, they never intended that the notion of God, and most specifically the non-denominational Judeo-Christian God, was to be kept out of government, and indeed, repeatedly noted that our Constitution was never meant to, nor could ever, govern an immoral or amoral people, or any other people who chose a standard other than the Judeo-Christian one.
They knew that the Ten Commandments, and indeed the Gospel of Christ especially, was central to our God-given rights for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They made no apologies for that, for they saw clearly that true freedoms could only be ensured by a people that respected and embraced the Bible as being a sacred text of unfailing wisdom. Further, they also knew that no church denomination "owned" the words of God, and that accordingly, no one denomination should have influence in National Government above that of another, nor should one ever be nationalized. That was the extent of their consideration of the separation of Church and State.
Thus, they had no difficulty in separating the Words of God from the interpretations and regulations of the sects that followed and professed the Gospel as their own. The Old and New Testaments were given to all men, and this they non-denominationally chose to be the basis of their new government and the laws which would govern its people.
Therefore, as I have said on many other occasions, God's influence and wisdom cannot be denied as the inspirational source of what we have governing us today. This is a Christian Nation that allows all of its citizenry the right to worship God according to their conscience. But it does not give its citizenry the arbitrary right to change the basis of its freedoms stemming from the Judeo-Christian model, unless by constitutional amendment. And, securing that, His laws became imbedded within the intentions and letters of the laws of this land. God help us in the day that our "changes" ever go against His wishes and commands.
I know, too, that there are atheists, agnostics, and others from other religious persuasions that argue that a Judeo-Christian morality excludes them, and somehow diminishes them as citizens, as they forever seek to drive a wedge between what the Founding Fathers sought and intended, and their own selfish wishes. But the answer to their concerns is straight forward. Show me another system that better ensures and protects the rights of its citizens... No matter your religious or non-religious appeal of affiliation, there is no other system that guarantees and protects the rights of its citizens as that which is founded upon the Judeo-Christian Standard. You remove that, and all our freedoms are in jeopardy.
|Specifically for the USA and especially because of our Judeo-Christian roots, the family is the building block of the community, and in turn the nation, and its definition is therefore something that affects the course and direction of our country. The Family has been the basic teaching module of our culture; it raises our future leaders. Whatever we learn from within them, is usually that which affects the rest of our lives, and in rippling ever outwards, effects the neighborhood and eventually rest of the nation. This stability and form is therefore important to sustain.||
No form of Islam certainly can compete... Nor can any New Ageism, or other pseudo-religious moral standard. Communism and Socialism have failed, as have other modern systems which are based on humanism alone. None of them have ever proved worthwhile, fair, or prosperity-producing.
None have ever ensured the protection of the inherent rights of the Ten Commandments. None have ever proved rightly disciplining of its families and culture, allowing for peace and order to prevail, allowing in turn economies and civil infrastructures to exist, blessing the generations that come. No other foundation has ever proved as socially rewarding and inspired as that put forth by the Judeo-Christian standard. Why should we apologize for it? Rather, we should celebrate it, and indeed defend it! Indeed, this country and its non-denominational moral standards on which it is based are indivisible...
Without a doubt, the system works like none other. And yet, today, one of the most important standards of the Judeo-Christian world, that of marriage itself and what it means to the families and cultures of the nations that practice it, is being hotly challenged...
Specifically for the USA and especially because of our Judeo-Christian roots, the family is the building block of the community, and in turn the nation, and its definition is therefore something that affects the course and direction of our country. The Family has been the basic teaching module of our culture; it raises our future leaders. Whatever we learn from within them, is usually that which affects the rest of our lives, and in rippling ever outwards, affects the neighborhood and eventually rest of the nation. The stability and form of the family is therefore important to sustain.
We've all seen what happens to our children's welfare when there is no marriage between a man and woman. In the Black Community, especially, the results have been thoroughly documented. Children do not develop, and then often replicate the instability of their own childhood when they become adults, negatively resonating into the lives of still others, making the neighborhoods in which they live ghettos, crime-infested, and hopeless. It's hard to break such cycles of self-destructiveness once started. Although these social problems are indeed complex, the recurring missing common thread is inevitably the soundness of the families in those neighborhoods, and the sureness and clearness of the morality that is embraced by each.
I know there are perhaps exceptions, but regardless of race and ethnicity, raising children outside of marriage doesn't work. And when that doesn't happen, neighborhoods and then nations fall apart. We know that single parent homes do not function as well as emotionally stable homes which have both a mother and father. Social statistics have demonstrated this time and again, much to the dismay of liberal dissenters, or those like Hillary Clinton who tout that it "takes a village to raise a child." The answer is: "no it doesn't;" it takes two caring parents, and those parents have consistently been male and female; let's keep the village out of it! In actual fact, it takes the stability and endurance of the Judeo-Christian family structure to make the "village" habitable and the nation strong. Our nation has not found comparable sustenance in any other forum.
|This doesn't mean that prejudice of any sort should be tolerated, or that homosexuals should be forced to wear a "scarlet letter," or further suffer the inequities of others. Truly, they are unwittingly disadvantaged enough because of their own problems, and none of us should think to cast stones. But it does mean that like all other psychological dysfunction, it can be treated by those who genuinely seek treatment, and who genuinely wish to unravel the telling Frustration Complexes within them.||
Gays, too, looking for further social acceptance, would have us believe that marriage is something that should be recognized and legal within their ranks as well, despite the fact that it is in itself an ordinance, sacrament, and covenant with the same God who has never sanctioned their sexuality, and clearly outlaws and condemns homosexual conduct. Obviously, they don't see their multiple inconsistencies or the major disconnect they practice. Unfortunately, many religious denominations have obscured these realities ever further, hoping to appease its membership or perhaps even looking for more members.
Even Professional Health Practitioners and Providers have unwittingly rolled over years ago on this one because of mounting social pressure from Gay and liberal rights, wrongly redefining the homosexual act and the lifestyle a "normal one" practiced by "choice." Truth be known, the Gay agenda first specifically targeted Health Professionals to remove the stigma of their "psychological dysfunction" from the diagnostic vocabulary of Psychology and Psychiatry solely on the basis of social pressure--certainly not science. Having been successful in that, they then sought to normalize themselves further by chiseling away at everything else in our social fabric that prevented their "okay-ness," including the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts.
However, unlike many of my professional colleagues, I personally believe that homosexuality is a severe sexual dysfunction of the personality (whether its ego-syntonic or ego-dystonic), a form of abnormal Personality Fragmentation that afflicts deep psychological damage on the practitioner (for more details of these peculiar narcissistic dynamics, see The Winds of the Soul). Despite its appeal by those more Politically Correct, it is neither a natural nor normal function of a healthy, psychologically-sound individual, and has never been one. Normalizing it politically will not untangle the psychological problems at its roots. That has never been its cure. It certainly isn't a standard of emotional or psychological stability for the family, leastwise the nation. Once that is understood, or at least re-examined, then everything else the Gay community espouse to be recognized becomes moot. I know that they would wish otherwise, but I'm sorry, but there's just no such thing as the third sex... at least not in this world.
This doesn't mean that prejudice of any sort should be tolerated, or that homosexuals should be forced to wear a "scarlet letter," or further and wrongly suffer the inequities of others. Truly, they are unwittingly disadvantaged enough because of their own problems, and remaining in denial of them doesn't help them any further..., and none of us should think to cast stones.
But it does mean that like all other psychological dysfunction, it can be compassionately treated by those who genuinely seek treatment, and who genuinely wish to unravel the telling labyrinth of Frustration Complexes within them. And like all other psychological problems, to deny the realities of such problems, or redefine them to make them socially or personally more palatable, has always led to more problems, no matter the nature of the problem itself. Such is certainly not the model of mental health that we should leave the next generation.
Yet, Gays and other supporting liberals in their further attempts to normalize the Gay world, would have us change the very standards and foundation that have help led to our peace and prosperity as a nation, remaking the family in their dysfunctional image for their own convenience and privilege. Clearly their agenda is to have everybody trivialize and then normalize their problems, even if it is to everyone's disadvantage; much like many others who, suffering from other psychological problems of addiction, want the whole world to change for their convenience, making their addictive problems an acceptable nuance of life. They would have all us make a "lie" into a "truth." Again, so tampering with the moral foundation of this country, or wrongly redefining its most basic structures such as the family, cannot lead anywhere but to its own demise.
|On the other side of the accounting ledger, as we see our population grow more tolerant of immorality at all levels, we correspondingly witness the decline of educational standards in our schools, the decay of moral understanding in our business community, the increase and graft in the political and legal arenas, and the increase in divorce and infidelity in our culture. History teaches us that the moral decay of a nation always portends its decline in all other areas.||
The same argument applies to them as to all others who would deny the moral foundation of this country. Show me the better system.... Show me a better way to raise children and ensure the longevity and blessings of a nation than what God has already established. Show me the data or the instruction manual that compares with the specificity and balance of the Judeo-Christian model. If you can't do that, then get off your soapbox.
On the other side of the accounting ledger, as we see our population grow more tolerant of immorality at all levels, we correspondingly witness the decline of educational standards in our schools, the decay of moral understanding in our business community, the increase of graft in the political and legal arenas, and the increase in divorce and infidelity in our culture. History teaches us that the moral decay of a nation always portends its decline in all other areas.
These are not just anecdotal findings, but real and measurable sociological trends in our country today. It's difficult to argue with these findings, as the correlations are strong and most significant. They lead to conclusions that are even harder to refute: The more we are persuaded to allow the moral lines of decency to be crossed and diluted, the more we invite further social anarchy down the road. The more we are convinced that our own individual rights can be protected outside of, or apart from, the moral laws God has given us, the sooner we lose those rights to others. To tamper with something that has proven itself so repeatedly successful over time, suggests that those behind these motives are not sound or clear in their own thinking, or in the reality testing they seek to impose on others. Indeed, their agenda is not for the welfare for this country, but in its downfall...
Thus, this July Fourth, as we proudly raise and wave the Red, White, and Blue, let us remember the basis of this country's success. It came from hearts then and now who testified strongly about the moral and ethical foundation of life as guaranteed by our Creator, One who surely knew more than us, and One to Whom every knee will bend and acknowledge one day soon. To countermand His Commandments, clear directives that have served us so well for so long, is foolishness and arrogance in the extreme. The insight and genius of this form of government using the Judeo-Christian standard as its keel, is clearly far superior than any in recorded history. So why mess with its foundation, or be led to believe by others that their kind of social tweaking won't hurt anything? I have yet discovered any finer direction available in this world, or a better foundation on which to hope. I am, for one, constantly amazed at how profound the Lord's simple teachings are, and how they continuously protect us from the worst of ourselves....
Again..., I ask anybody to show me if there's a better, more responsible way. I dare say, except for His further revelation, there isn't one...
