An Un-American Agenda...

The Forging of False Gods...

~written from the common sense perspective of The Winds of the Soul~

by Dr. Gregory C.D. Young, Ph.D.(Oxon.)

to the book

The "Great Melting Pot" of the USA has become like Aaron's smelting pots that reforged Egyptian spoils into a golden calf that Israel chose to worship instead of the Lord their God.

Lying and mistrust has become such a prominent part of life that one can hardly escape it.  One rarely ever hears the truth clearly anymore.  All of our institutions have become marred by a systemic faithlessness that is surprisingly blatant and unapologetic, but becoming more the un-American Norm than many would like to admit.

In fact, many of us have forgotten the first American Agenda of finding a place where one could practice their religion freely and without persecution, a place where each individual could seek the Truth in a way fully in accord with their conscience, and safe from the laws inevitably prescribed by unscrupulous men.  Sadly, many of us have since become complacent in accepting a true forgery in its place.

The "Great Melting Pot" of the USA has become like Aaron's smelting pots that reforged Egyptian spoils into a golden calf that Israel chose to worship instead of the Lord their God.  And the seed does not fall far from the tree.  Shamefully, we too have become those who refashion the "Truth," parsing and melting the substance of its wisdom down so as ruin the inherent brilliance, muddying the precision of the values it represents, weakening the resulting fusion, making it less pure and of little worth by our prideful skill and effort.

Is it any wonder that the merits of personal responsibility and accountability have largely disappeared amongst us, where excuses and rationalizations built from the foundation of secular humanism and guileful relativism abound, where "right" is slandered, denigrated, and repackaged through the auspices of Political Correctness to be "wrong," and "wrong" given the nudge to jump the queue in front of "right?"

Such is secular humanism, and the falseness of direction it has given us.  We have taken the Truths of our moral and intellectual inheritance and refashioned them into things of dross, misdirecting us to rally for the wrong and mistaken causes that would make our conservative forefathers sick and ashamed.

Is it any wonder that the merits of personal responsibility and accountability have largely disappeared amongst us, where excuses and rationalizations built from the foundation of secular humanism and guileful relativism abound, where "right" is slandered, denigrated, and repackaged through the auspices of Political Correctness to be "wrong," and "wrong" given the nudge to jump the queue in front of "right?"  Such happenings are now pervasive throughout our society, influencing every tributary of our culture----family, communities, churches, school boards, local, state, and national government and courts of law, all.

Take today's out-of-touch, ratings-profit-driven, narcissistically-obsessed elite media just as an example of one among many----you know, the people that claim they're always reporting the "truth" in print and on the airways.  Some say that these have led the way in our cultural demise and have spearheaded the indoctrination of the liberal left's secular agenda for the rest of us.  I think differently.  But even if they haven't led the way, in the least, they sure have been pushing the rest of us from behind.

In this camp in particular, guileful secular relativism teems with life.  Here, lying and tap dancing together introduce us to new levels of deceit.  And remember, this is just an example of what is endemic in the rest of our institutions and pervades much of culture, even interfering in our interpersonal relationships....

What with the media's largely liberal agenda and faithless proclivity to parse every sentence and act into impossibly obscure and illogical conclusions, stripping away the "truth" from its intended context because it makes better headlines, which in turn cripples the intended meaning of any "newsmaker," is it any wonder that "Clinton-speak" has become more the norm than exception?

And not knowing, and admitting that one does not know, the answer to any question on any topic is akin to suicide, or at least now merits a demotion in social regard and respect.  Moreover, in giving an answer that is different than is expected, apparently gives license to shoot first and ask questions later.

Public figures must become increasing more defensive in what they innocently say, knowing that some unscrupulous reporter/lawyer or lawyer/reporter "out there" is waiting just beyond the corner to take advantage of their next prey.  Anytime anyone is found wanting, the knives come out and the vivid and dramatic public dissection proceeds----often maiming the victim, misrepresenting their character, slandering their intentions, tar and feathering them until the next "story" can be found.

If questions can't be answered, or are not answered immediately or in a thirty second sound bite, then surely, our detractors assume, one is guilty of something, even if it's simply and honestly not knowing the answer.

And not knowing, and admitting that one does not know, the answer to any question on any topic is akin to suicide, or at least now merits a demotion in social regard and respect.  Moreover, in giving an answer that is different than is expected, apparently gives license to shoot first and ask questions later.

With such ammunition now in hand, the target is made to be a public spectacle.  Labels fly unmercifully.  Finger pointing abounds.  Name-calling accelerates.  Conspiracies are freely hypothesized and further convoluted.  So-called experts and "news analysts" give their not-so-expert, last minute, ill-thought-out opinions because they airtime to fill and papers to print.

Blatant misreporting has become more the norm today than we realize.  Media fabrication is no longer a thing just for Hollywood's fantasy's, where the line between fact and fiction becomes almost impossible to distinguish between.  Now that News Reporting has become increasingly more political, "entertaining," and prejudicially dogmatic in their agendas, the twisted fabrication of the "story" has become commonplace.

Not surprising, most media outlets, including the organizations of newspapers and magazines, Network and Cable News, and electronic media have all participated in the "fashioning" of the truth to fit their private editorial opinions.  Though guilefully representing a fair and balanced perspective on the surface, most journalists have impoverished their own credibility, proffering masked editorial opinion as unbiased news reporting, remaining slanted and Politically Correct, and forever under-representing the American people as a whole.

In today's media, and thereafter most everything it has touched, the truth is manipulated as easy as it is to change a digital photograph.  The real differences between the "truth" and a "lie" have largely disappeared.  They have both evolved into amorphous things called "facts," statistical poles, relative nuances, or some notions/opinions deemed worthy of an headline, and must always be Politically Correct from the liberal's constantly changing and self-serving perspective.

Moreover, by and large, the imbalances of liberal agenda's in most media elite camps continue on in the majority without resistance, giving largely one-sided and unopposed secular opinions where conservative points of view are considered adolescent if not stupid, certainly delusional, and then pompously ignored.

And the problems become further compounded..... What with the speed and profusion of communication today, the reporting of errors often goes unchecked.  Repeatedly reported inaccuracies magically evolve into recently, but rarely verified, assured truths----with the dust storms of all their dreaded possibilities obfuscating the process even further...., but sure making it all even more dramatic and for higher ratings!

Even if information is found false, it's rarely corrected because it doesn't make ratings-sense.  Further pressed with the needs to make deadlines, the unacceptable becomes acceptable and common, as muddled thinking becomes further polished, pretending to positions of ingeniously clever analysis, and is thereafter inexcusably exalted to the undeserved Pulitzer status of "breathtaking clarity."  But a silk purse cannot be made from a sow's ear, no matter how fancy the tap dancing....

Ironically, despite the pixel improvements made today in TV's broadcast high definition electronics and the print qualities obtained in the publishing media, the stories we are being fed are becoming increasingly more muddied, unclear, and difficult to see.  Although the "pictures" are becoming more life-like and surprisingly real, their substance seems to get even more distorted and meaningless.

Good, honest, mature, balanced analysis is hardly ever found. Complicity, mediocrity, and double standards not only abound thereafter, but are exponentially on the rise.  In the wake of this reality, impatient, undisciplined, and adolescent thinking seems only to be reinforced.  Point aside, we should no longer be surprised to learn that such morphing of the truth can be found, too, in many of today's textbooks in all public schools.

Truly, we are getting what we are willing to pay for.   It's become too easy to blame Hollywood or the Network moguls, no matter their complicities, when it is our own appetites that need to be first adjusted and examined.  Slipshoddiness, mediocrity, bad manners, irresponsible excuse and moral Clinton-ease, begins with us and the natural cause and effect powers within our free market economy.

Again, this brief and albeit likely flawed analysis is meant not just to criticize the media alone.  Rather, the media, by its very public nature and means, serves us well as an imperfect but telling mirror, which though in recent times has become more and more unflattering, and is more salient as an example of what has become acceptable to us en masse.

Remember, the media is, in the end, governed by the profits that ratings brings.  And the people themselves decide by their participation and viewing what those ratings will be.  This means that "we the people" are generally responsible for the media fare that is dished up.

To a degree, we must all accept accountability for what has happened to Hollywood, the Networks, etc. because if we didn't watch what they make, and if we didn't hand over our money for their tickets, then they would be forced to change their venue solely out of economic consideration.

If the lowest crass denominator is that which sells to the most, that is what will be sold to the most.  Whatever we tune in to or buy in print, that is the demonstrated and documented appetite that will be served.  In other words, we are offered what we first reflect.  We get what we've already demonstrated we will watch and read.

If our viewing and reading habits were to change for the better, so would the media need to respond in like kind.  But as long as we remain complacent and comfortable to eat the husks of corn offered, so will our plates be filled.

Thus it is that when we show we want to watch more lawyers and court TV by more of us watching it, we get more of it.  As we prove we want more so-called "reality programming," that's what we get.  When demonstrating that we want more sycophantic "idol" programs, the box will serve it up.  That's how it works.  Although there are notable exceptions, what is reflected in our media, is generally a pretty good, though backhanded, example of what is really going on and is found crassly acceptable within our American homes.  And that does not bode well for America.

Page 5

And just as we have seen on TV and in our newspapers..., impatient, undisciplined, and adolescent thinking is reinforced and rewarded within our homes and schools as well----liberal educators and liberal churches working to turn us ever further from the humble, self-examining Christian standards of our forefathers..., and apparently succeeding as we continually and without objection follow their lead.

Along with this menu of media-fare, we mindlessly ingest all the unhealthy attitudes and mores, ignorance and prejudice, influences and directions implicitly cloaked within the programs themselves.  Every time the moral line is crossed today and we accept it, more line-crossing will be offered tomorrow.  What we watch today, becomes the standard of our watching tomorrow, replete with all its engrossing bad habits..., and in turn, eventually through such social modeling becomes the augmented standard by which we all act and live.

As is found in the media..., good, honest, emotionally mature, balanced analysis is now becoming increasing more rare within the home.  Complicity, mediocrity, and double standards abound.  Here, too, these slovenly standards are exponentially on the rise, for both parents and children alike.

Just as the shameful and intolerant treatment of President Bush by the majority of the White House Press Corps during a recent news briefing illustrates, having faith and simple kindness in one another is no longer the first thing we consider.  These are no longer practiced as a standard amongst us, but thought commonplace to abridge and skirt.

To be sure, such "faith" and respectful tolerance in one another is now thought foolish and naive when and if offered.  All this speaks volumes to the lack of tolerance and trust that is being normalized by our culture.  It also shows again the times in which we are living.

In truth "art" does mimic reality.  America is becoming very un-American, because we are now hosting within our homes many un-American agendas....  It's perhaps ironic that those that hate America most are not the Europeans, or the others around the world that may envy us through their hatred, but those amongst us who care not for the standards of morals and values of our forefathers.

For this time especially, He directed us to one simple solution, one personal solution that may be practiced even though Hell seems to be at our very door.  Namely, learn to stand in Holy Places.  Don't run and go hither and thither because someone else tells you to.  Don't adopt some new trend or fashion because "everybody's doing it," or it's the latest famed "quick-fix."  Rather, stand in Holy Places!

I know that sensitizing ourselves to these realities is painful and discomforting.  We would wish that it weren't so, and would rather turn away and hope to ignore all that is going on.  I also realize that the problems which confront us seem so overwhelmingly contentious, irresolvable and frightening.  Solutions seem to be beyond our reach, and there seems little that any of us can do about it all.

But that's just wrong thinking.  And running away from these realities, no matter how large they first appear, only brings us some fiction of the peace we want, never the kind of peace that's lasting and promised.

Accordingly, we're told that we should be wise and receive everything with a little bit of salt.  Well, I don't know about you, but my salt cellars are running awfully low...  And isn't such accommodation that which got us into this predicament in the first place?

A different solution has been offered us by the Lord, who has told us that these very times would come and affect us all.  He told us that things would get so bad that our hearts would feint, that we would think ourselves to be all alone, that we would begin to give up hope, that we would be downcast and think the 'morrow would never come.

But He reminded us that just as these things begin to be, His work will be cut short and the harvest will begin, even though it seems that the summer has just arrived.

Stand in Holy Places specifically means, find the Spirit of His Countenance within you, and hold on tight.  Find the Measure of Goodness resonating within your heart and never let go.  Use this Measure of His Word within you to direct all your ways.  See through this Measure as you would prescriptive glasses so as to continue in kindness and tolerance with all people and circumstances----rejecting the ways and means of the world, of the un-American agendas of our institutions, and of course, the not to be forgotten elite media.

Do it His way, not theirs.  Let His be our standard, not theirs.  Follow His direction and exalt His guidance within us and without us.  Look for the truth in all things, but test it thoroughly before we accept it, and similarly, let us bring our works honestly and always into His Light.  Use His Measure to discern between the sweet and the bitter, judging righteously and generously.

At the same time, this same Light will admonish us to be quick to correct ourselves so as not to become complicit in our excuses and mistakes.  It will urge us to readily admit when we're wrong and show forth the strength that we know the discipline of correction and repentance.  At all times and by the same resonations of His Spirit, let us be gracious and forgiving.  Let us not be moved out of this place, but remain close and determined to continue in the conversation....

Let us accept the responsibilities of the day, being accountable and implacable in resolution to do so faithfully, remembering that all these things can only be realized as we stand in His Holy Place----the same place, by the way, that our American forefathers "stood in" when they founded the basis of this country and secured the fruits of Harvest for many generations, despite the ridicule from Europe and the insistence that this democracy would never survive.  So much for those earlier and latter-day experts of the culturally elite and their in-tow media who bare false witness just so as to propagate their agenda.

The Spirit of the Lord has always been the true governor of the American agenda!  Any other influence is foreign to the cause of this country and should be recognized as so.  Let us not follow another's false Gods.  Let us not bend His will to us, but rather bend ourselves to Him.  Let us no longer attempt the re-forging, parsing, and refashioning of His Truth, or let others persuade us to do differently!
