Can We Still Recognize the Truth?

The Foundations of Accurate Discernment....

~written from the common sense perspective of The Winds of the Soul~

by Dr. Gregory C.D. Young, Ph.D.(Oxon.)

to the book

I'm sure if you were to ask most people about their capacity to recognize the Truth they would reply in the affirmative, saying that "yes" they have the ability to discern between the Truth and not, and believe themselves to most competent in this regard.

Can you hear and recognize the Truth when you hear it?  Do you know what it means to be able to recognize the Truth of things before us.  That is, have you the critical understanding about you to discern between that which is True and that which is not, that which is Good and that which is not?

But are you one that thinks these are just critical thinking skills that can be honed and practiced over time?  Or, have you finally come to see that it takes much more than critical thinking skills, as wonderful as they may indeed be, to recognize the Truth in things?  And, do you then understand what must be within you in order to recognize the Truth intelligently and continuously?

I'm sure if you were to ask most people about their capacity to recognize the Truth they would reply in the affirmative, saying that "yes" they have the ability to discern between the Truth and not, and believe themselves to most competent in this regard.  That shouldn't surprise us too much because, after all, most people inherently feel that to answer in the negative would betray one's stupidity, and people are generally inclined to cover up that kind of information, given half a chance.

For many of us, most of these issues are "no-brainers" and have common sense solutions, some which are harder to implement than others because of the cost of blood and treasure to be sure, but nonetheless, we know what should be done.  The delay of solving these problems only makes their execution more painful for everyone.

But I'm one who is beginning to seriously question the ability of most Americans to understand how to discern the Truth, especially after you consider the lack of substance, the inane quality, and the new lows to which the American dialogue recently has slipped.  Just consider a few of the most recent topics of debate:

(1) War and peace and the WMDs that have been found but denied by the MSM and Plame-Gate protagonists.

(2) The discounting of the dangers of Radical Islam, and the redefining of them as PC freedom fighters.

(3) The alleged sovereignty of our country but D.C.'s unwillingness to protect our borders .

(4) Illegal immigrants demanding that amnesty and rights of citizenship be given them, no matter their refusal to assimilate and racial intolerance, their overt threats to take back the Southwest U.S. for Latinos/Mexico, the laws that they have broken and the social services that they have already abused.

(5) Totally out-of-control Congressional spending during a war that is going to be long and involved.

(5) The leaking of national secrets by the media are considered PC "good leaks."

(6) No Congressional Term limits and continuation of the same corrupted power base of civil servants and bureaucrats.

(7) The demonizing of the U.S.A. in favor of Liberal Globalist's view of U.N. policies.

For many of us, most of these issues are "no-brainers" and have common sense solutions, some which are harder to implement than others because of the cost of blood and treasure to be sure, but nonetheless, we know what should be done.  The delay of solving these problems only makes their execution more painful for everyone.

Yet, as we all well know, there are people that fret over problem solving of any sort, and are seemingly overwhelmed even when having competent solutions in front of them, simply refusing to execute the rational decision because they're never sure, in a Clintonesque-Fritz way, what the right solution may be.  The responsibilities are just too great for them.

Indeed, such ongoing idiocy has recently led to the probable emergence of a new three party system consisting of the 1-the estranged Marxists-Democrats, 2-Republicans who are becoming liberals, and 3-Conservatives----or perhaps it's still just a two party system after all with the Conservatives against everyone else, as Democrats and Republicans are really cut from the same cloth, two dogs fighting for the same bone.

In observing them, these are apparently much more at home with non-problems, or fake problems, stirring up discord when there really isn't a problem in order to make themselves feel important and cover their obvious incompetencies.  Thus, they are better equipped in making up problems that don't really need solutions than in dealing with the real world, which calls out for the making of appropriate real solutions every day.

You can see it happening a mile away.... With every perceived social problem and wrong, the Elite Intelligentsia scramble for "position," sending them into yet another well-orchestrated public tizzy of emotional fretting and hand-wringing over issues that most of us see clearly as a "slam-dunk."  Nonetheless, they call for scores of committees and panels of "liberal experts" to be convened in an attempt to sort it all out while retaining political correctness.

We all know who they are.  These kinds of people really love the power and glamour of position, but are ill-equipped to handle the responsibilities and accountability that comes with it.  Sound like a politician or two that you know?  Maybe the Hollywood set fits as well?

These people are dangerous, who like the MSM and drive-by-media, engage in inflammatory rhetoric in order to promote themselves, or their liberal cause, distracting everyone's attention away from the real reasons as to why they're so involved... The power and influence they crave....

In direct contrast, it's fully possible that an average twelve year old could flex a little common sense and cut right to the heart of most "Elite issues," and not spend more than 10 minutes in coming up with the obvious solution, a solution that would generally be opposed to whatever the committee's "PC findings" would recommend.

The absurdities of these realities can not be overstated.

But I think these impoverishments stem from just one critical fact.... the more I study this, the more it becomes obvious that these people cannot actually perceive the Truth, even if it hits them over the head.  They have no capacity for the discerning of Truth from falsehood. No sense of stable Truth exists within them, no awareness of what Truth is and how to recognize it.   They are intellectually blind to it, having long ago forsaken the Pattern of same within themselves.

Instead, whatever they seem to subjectively grasp from their liberal library becomes redefined as the Truth of the moment.  This they brandish as the only correct perception of reality and the only possible astute resulting analysis.  Even though they harvest "red herring" out of season, they are continuously led to believe that their solutions are ingenious if not epiphaneous events that are beyond the common understanding of the rest of us.  This is their grand delusion of epoch proportion.

Accordingly, as all their feckless self-absorption plays out, these exhibit no real skill in understanding the priorities of things, of what must be done "first" logically and judicially, in order to logistically bring about compounded solutions for the greater good.  In their liberal glee, they seem to miss the point entirely, sort of like the recently exposed mandate which forced blind high school kids to take Drivers-Ed in order to graduate.  Can people really be that stupid?  Sadly, yes and yes again.

It's apparent that most of these described above can't answer questions clearly put to them, because they lack the very ingredient which enables the wisdom they clamor to claim. That is why their understanding about things in general seems so regularly cockeyed to me, and why they seem so much like tragically failed comic book characters, wanna be super-heroes that don't have the wherewithal.

Although these self-defined "wonder people" claim to be experts in many fields, they continuously fail to understand the problems in front of them, offering up liberal-based solutions that generally fail, and more to their own embarrassment, have regularly failed in the past.

It's not as if there wasn't evidence already amassed that proved by following the same mistaken liberal-socialist course results in the same failed outcomes.  That data is available to any who wish to be made aware.  They just refuse to see it.

What are we to make of a group of people bent on publicly repeating the same mistakes by embracing the same failed philosophies?  What are we to do with a portion of our population that is so enamored with the delusion of their own self-importance that it gives them a learning disorder?  What are we to conclude, but that they lack the basic ingredient of intelligence that allows them to learn from their willful mistakes, unable to correctly perceive the Truth of things..., and then generally cover up their glaring deficits, or worse attempt to normalize them while slandering all that disagree with them.

You see, it's just not a random mistake on their part, it is a continuous display of bad judgment stemming from patterns of ingrained distorted perceptions.  So compromised and habitually addicted to the vacuous delusion of self-importance, they can't see the forest through the trees.  And unless they begin to bravely recognize the delusional nature of their own mindsets, there is little hope for them.  There is nobody more stubborn and resilient to the Truth than those that choose not to see.

Knowing how to recognize and understand the Truth should be a prerequisite for occupying any position of public power, influence, or order.  Indeed, it used to be this way, but no longer.  Conversely, it would seem equally dysfunctional for the rest of us to repeatedly choose as our leaders those that continually choose not to see.

But this dichotomy, those that see verses those that choose otherwise, has been with us since man has been on this planet, and each generation must deal with it.  In fact, I believe that this is the very essence of the conversation that Pontius Pilate had with Christ when he questioned Him about His Kingdom and the part the Truth played in it. You will recall from the KJV version of the Bible:

33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?  34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?  36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

Page 4

Such capacity and its subsequent understanding is "the" critical ingredient of sound understanding, our most important compass and measure from which all activity should spring.  It is the basis of true sentience, true intelligence.  Such should be the starting point of all our activities, as well as the constant check against our actual ongoing course.  So intrinsically primordial, it impacts our entire welfare, and safely directs (or should direct) our passage through life.  Without such connectivity, we are lost, drifting aimlessly without goodly profit or purpose.

Now notice in response to Pilate's question "Art thou the King of the Jews?"  Christ's question to Pilate, "Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?"   I believe Jesus sought to discover whether Pilate knew of himself that Jesus was the King of the Jews, or whether somebody else told him that it may perhaps be so....  In other words, I think He was asking, "Is there Light within you that told you this beforehand, or did it come to you by some other means?"

More importantly, Jesus was preparing to teach Pilate that He, and the portion of Christ's very personage and Spirit that was given us, is a critical necessity that must be embraced within him (and us) in order for any person at any time to recognize Truth from falsehood... a capacity that was indigenous to us as children..., if he would only listen.

To Jesus' question, Pilate answered Jesus sarcastically stating that "No," this was something that the Jews had alleged to him alone, as if to state that there would be no other way in which he could possibly come to this knowledge.

Not knowing Jesus or what He was about, Pilate had no idea that he could, indeed, have come to know about the Christ quite independently apart from any other party, if the Light within him were allowed to shine.  But alas, that was not the case.  Indeed, like many amongst us today, Pilate thought that his ignorance was normal about such a thing, and that any other possibility was pure superstition, believing that since he wasn't a Jew, who was he to have any interest in the matter except to enquire as to what it was the Jesus did that got everybody so riled.

This was an immediate confession of sorts, pointing out that the Truth was not in Pilate, for he could not see Who was actually standing before him, as he did not have eyes to see.  And he didn't have the slightest indication as to why he should or could have known that Jesus was a King, because his heart was darkened by the many long years of Spiritual neglect.

Jesus then told him that His Kingdom was not of this world, otherwise his servants would not allow Him to be delivered to the Jews, but would fight for Him.  So alas, "for now" His Kingdom was yet to have advanced to earth, and He was subsequently delivered to those who fight against His Kingdom.  These statements simply prepared Pilate for the main point to be delivered up next....

From hearing Jesus' response, Pilate began to understand that the Man in front of him was indeed claiming a Kingdom, but in strange way "somewhere" and in "sometime," but not "here" and "now." So Pilate asked Jesus again,  "Art thou a king then?"

Page 5

Pilate was now ready for the answer.  Jesus continued... Quite in contrast to earthly Kingships, Jesus explained the point and purpose of His own Kingship and of the order of the Kingdom Heaven, pointing out how different His Kingdom and Kingship was from earthly kingdoms and kings, stating unequivocally:  "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.  Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."

Now readied for an answer, Jesus then taught him. But not in a way that most of us would have argued.  It was Jesus' method to prepare the mind and heart of all that would listen to him for His Message of Consummate Goodness, for the exposition of the Truth, for the Spiritual Light that was waiting to break forth within each who would choose to listen to Him.  He knew that unless a person were to be awakened from their faithlessness, and begin to listen to the ruminations and reflections from the Still, Small Voice within them, they would not hear Him crying out to save them, nor know to embrace His directions and admonitions.

Thus, He answered in a way which would and did prompt further enquiry, further commitment and possible conclusion, if not a brooding introspective self-awareness.

Indeed, Jesus then taught Pilate what a "King" really should be, or upon what foundation a King should rule, and upon what basis a Kingdom should exist and should really be all about..., namely upon the Truth itself.

In answer to Pilate's "Art thou a king then?", Jesus next stated: "Thou sayest that I am a king."  Now, on the surface, you would think that he would have just acknowledged this plainly, by saying "Yes, I am a King," instead of saying purposely, "Thou sayest that I am...."

So why did Jesus choose to answer in that manner? Was He ducking the question?  Or was He answering wisely, yet defensively, knowing that if He didn't choose His words carefully that Caesar's governor may then find reason to object to Jesus himself, Jesus' professed Kingship unlawfully challenging against Caesar and his government?

Although the latter makes considerable sense, as such straight forwardness could have been misinterpreted by Pilate as further reason to believe that Jesus was indeed seditious and a danger to Rome, I think there is still another reason, or at least one that parallels this latter possibility.

Knowing all men, I believe that Jesus was first noting the change of affairs now in Pilates heart and mind, and confirmed it verbally to Pilate, namely, that Pilate was actually now considering for himself whether this Man in front of him was actually a "King," aside from what the Jews had said.  He was beginning to change position from being unknowing and uncaring to the point of questioning for himself what it was about this Man that caused the Jewish Elders of the Sanhedrin such anger.  He was finally engaged in personal examination of Who this Man really was....

Pilate was now ready for the answer, but perhaps was still expecting a different form of reply.  To wit, Jesus continued... But instead of offering a one dimensional answer, He gave quite the opposite.  Here He chose instead to give a concise but multivariate answer, one that had to be thought about in order to be fully understood, much like the parables that He taught to the masses, one that would expose, challenge, and prod sleeping mindsets.

Here, Christ decided to first redefine what a King and Kingdom should be all about, redefining the mistaken earthly notions and excelling the perfection of Heaven about such things.  After all, there would be little point in admitting to Pilate that He was indeed a King, when Pilate's definition of a King had been so culturally disparaged.  He was not a "King" after the order of Pilate's understanding.... And that made all the difference, calling for a fundamentally different answer.

In contrast to earthly Kingships, Jesus explained the point and purpose of His own Kingship and of the order of the Kingdom Heaven, pointing out how different His Kingdom and Kingship was from earthly kingdoms and kings, namely that unlike earthly kings and kingdoms His Kingdom had everything to do with the Truth, and the conveyance of that Truth, stating unequivocally:  "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.  Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."

Page 6

It's rare indeed to find earthly kings and kingdoms to imbibe and govern with these same priorities.  Earthly kings generally prove to set aside the Truth in all that they do, and then subsequently have no real concern that their people are educated to the Truth.  Indeed, our own Elite Intelligentsia have missed this same mark completely and operate without the guidance from Heaven, having chosen to retain yet another mark not from Heaven.  And now, how they have missed Christ's "mark" is made clear to all of us willing to see, as well as being a salient reminder that "but for the Grace of God, go I...."

In that brief answer, Jesus combined into one inseparable idea the true purpose of a King, and the only Goodly reason for a Kingdom.  Specifically, that "Kings" (and subsequently all leaders for that matter) are for serving, upholding, and witnessing the Truth, and nothing less... and He was that kind of "King," come from Heaven, to put things right again!  Now here the line was drawn in the sand, not only for Pilate, but for all men.

The point and primordial purpose for Christ the King and Lord of Lords for all men who choose to receive that portion of Him and His Spirit is that He should bear witness unto the Truth (which willing reception brings about the atonement and reconciliation between God and man), and in consequence, everyone that is of the Truth will hear His Voice, and indeed know of the Truth when presented.  His subjects would hear His Voice, a Voice that continually witnesses the Truth!

Therefore in order to be of His Kingdom, His subjects would singularly be aware of the Truth, must needs be attracted to such delineation, reflecting the fruit of Truth in an abundance of loving, good works, to the point of publishing the Truth to everyone around them.

This evoked Pilate's very telling and sheepish confession of ignorance: "What is truth?"  He was clearly operating outside the mark and was exposed as clearly grappling with the fact that he was a leader amongst men but his leadership shamefully fell short of being founding upon the Truth..., which he thereafter tried to dismiss and mock...., much like our politicians today.... This is true malfeasance.

To Pilate (and to all of us), Jesus was saying:

"If you don't understand, or now claim that you have never experienced the Truth, then you are missing a critical ingredient within yourself, of that which I gave to you in the beginning of your life here on this earth, even that portion of Spirit that I myself have provided you.

And in order for you to have missed this brooding awareness which was most obvious to you in your childhood, then you must have pushed this Spiritual ingredient away from you over time and through your own maturation dismissed it from your mind...., marginalized it and diminished its significance within you, even abolished the Voice of your Conscience, so much so that you are now a stranger to it, and to Me..., so much so that you do not recognize that I am the Author of that Voice that used to be free within you, bearing witness of the Truth even then.  And so I say, without me, you will not know the Truth nor hear My Voice.... so is it any wonder that you query now 'What is Truth?'"

Implicit within this teaching can be found the caring priorities of Heaven, giving us an indication of how directed the priorities of Heaven are for the welfare of its people.  Indeed, from Jesus' explanation can be gleaned that according to His Kingdom's standards and purposes the Spiritual imbedding of the capacity to hear and recognize the Truth in its own Children is paramount.  This is unquestionably of major importance to Christ and His Father, one of the most obvious uses of their power and glory, one that they do not take lightly.

It gives us an clear and salient indication that Kings (and all that would be our leaders), if they pattern themselves correctly, should be the foremost protectors and proclaimers of the Truth.  And that a "Kingdom" which is not so structured from "top- down" will ultimately fail.

It's rare indeed to find earthly kings and kingdoms (i.e., leaders and their bureaucracies) to imbibe and govern with these same priorities.  Earthly kings generally prove to set aside the Truth in all that they do, and then subsequently have no real concern that their people are educated to the Truth... most attempt to keep others away from the Truth.

Everyone that still retains this peculiar Intelligence, this mark (or Name) of the Spirit of Christ within them, will be able to recognize the Truth before them.  They will be able to hear His Voice plainly, and then benefit themselves from His Influence and Persuasion.  Indeed the more tried and faithful to that Voice, the louder and more distinct this capacity will resonate within us.

If we are and continually choose to be Christ's subjects, then we will hear His Voice clearly, retaining His Name within us.  Indeed, only thereafter can we hear the Truth in anything around us.  For without this allegiance forged and practiced on a daily basis, the Voice will become faint and grow to be barely noticeable to us.

This capacity of Grace only becomes clear and strong to us when we commit to following after Him, desiring to follow after His Ways of Goodness having been proven to us to be of inestimable merit, being convinced of its efficacy and manner through our own experiences,... which then subsequently entails the obeying of His Commandments and listing to obey His Voice, seeking after Him at all times and His Ways of Goodness, wanting to profit from His Counsel on all occasions, asking for His guidance with every step we take, knocking at the door of inquiry within us in order to request the presence of His Spirit to bless us.

Yet, without this practiced embracing of His Spirit within us, without our desiring of Goodness as He defines it, we will barely understand any notion of "Truth" even when these things are presented to us in all plainness and directness.  Instead, lest we are aware, we are left with a feeling of an empty space within us, and some notion that something used to be there but is now absent, like a footprint in the sand.

Without our loyalty to His Voice of Reason and Judgment then, when the Truth "appears" in front of us, we will not see it, nor know how to recognize it, having lost the very "pattern" of His Spirit from which we could quickly and easily make immediate reference.  Only with His Pattern living within us, are we given the capacity to recognize the Truth and the priority it carries.  Only then do we recognize its importance above other things.  Only then do we have this special capacity within us "turned-on."

So many amongst us today have this capacity willfully "turned-off."  Although they claim to listen, they do not hear.  Although they claim to understand, these cannot see, because they choose to forfeit the very piece and substance of their intelligence that allows them this very special "conditional awareness."

And thus remaining blind and deft, insisting that any other form of "sight and hearing" is thereafter impossible to everyone else....  adding that any who claim otherwise are just superstitious... these are left to themselves to reinvent laws after their own limitations.

Never has this reality been easier to see but amongst Liberals today, among the "Pontius Pilates" who lacking the sight to see need to question "What is Truth" amongst us.  It doesn't matter whether they go to church, or synagogue, or not, without taking the necessary Spiritual steps to embrace the Voice, the are thereafter constrained to make bogus decisions.

So let's look at ourselves and look at others around us with this in mind.  Do we hear the Truth as clear and unfiltered as we did when we were children.  Do we have the same level of confidence now that we did then?  When we make decisions now, do we feel the assuring resonance from within our hearts and minds that we are proceeding down the path that our Lord wishes for us.  Can we feel the presence and absence of Truth when we are so engaged?

Or do we fool ourselves into believing that we're confident about these things when we're really not, hyping our decisions with a lot of locker-room emotion and crowd-pleasing back-slapping antics instead, when in fact the Still, Small Voice of His Spirit and the course set by His Compass is no longer distinguishable.

Look around at ourselves and at others and the decisions they make.  Do they appear sound and judicious, Good and Truthful, wise and intelligent and peaceful in their decision making-process?  Are these hallmarks at all present?  If not, something is missing.... no matter the volume of "din" from the Liberal camp claiming otherwise.  Remember, noise does not make Truth.....
