The Patterns of Modern Liberal Thought

Beware of this Jeremiad....

~written from the common sense perspective of The Winds of the Soul~

by Dr. Gregory C.D. Young, Ph.D.(Oxon.)

to the book

What I am proposing here is that Liberal thought and function as we've come to know it today is not so much a philosophy, but rather a compunction, if not an obsessive-compulsion, egged on and abated by self-indulgent personalities which have been allowed to grow ever more crookedly, ever more narcissistically, largely self-absorbed and overly self-involved.

Readers of this newsletter will know that I like looking for and examining the patterns in things, believing that in everything about life, there are patterns, or deeper underlying structures, which when investigated resonate  from their foundation the vision of higher purposes, even yielding a deeper understanding of those things before us.

It is with this in mind that I would like to investigate the patterns of modern Liberal thought and strategy, to the end of helping to expose its true nature and how it may affect the mind, heart, and spirit of man, actually making him into something that the God of the Universe had no intention or design.  Rather, such is the fundamental design of His adversary.

What I am proposing here is that Liberal thought and function as we've come to know it today is not so much a philosophy, but rather a compunction, if not an obsessive-compulsion, egged on and abated by self-indulgent personalities which have been allowed to grow ever more crookedly, ever more narcissistically, largely self-absorbed and overly self-involved----even personalities that express a continuing proclivity for a form of myopic, self-inflated egocentricism which subsequently insulates themselves from reality testing..., and thereafter becoming a mindset which is ill-equipped to appropriately understand the world around them.

So limiting, just as we find in other addictions, Liberal Mindsets, too, act to competitively reduce and prejudicially attenuate other opinions to mere noise in their systems, rather than points of view deserving of further investigation.  Thus, in their own eyes, they remain unchallengeable and there is no other intelligent point of view but their own.  Such a strategy also allows them to lie through selective recall in memory, never questioning the bump in their inconsistent road.

I have found that those entertaining a Liberal Mindset encourage a hedonistic, self-insulating form of feeding frenzy aided and abetted by an unrestrained ego and all its untoward motivations.  Most simply, all sorts of self-indulgencies may then become self-justified and increased under the governance of Liberal ideologies, insulating oneself from being impacted by the balance of other perceptual alternatives and realities, no matter the disconnects that occur thereafter.

The thesis being advanced here is that the Liberal way of thinking, processing and believing (the mentation itself) is not simply a point of view but one which evolves into a cognitive pattern that is inherently and deeply flawed from the onset, a mental rubric which only yields conclusions that mirror the eye of the distorted beholder.

I am also suggesting that being so insular and self-incubating, such Liberal enforced perceptions actually become mindlessly habitual, and if repeatedly practiced enough, circuitously addicting...much like other self-absorbed addictions of which we are all well aware.

This leads to the hypothesis that the more Liberal one is, the more insular and limiting they necessarily become, and the more selective their cognitions, perceptions, and resulting memory recall becomes.  And subsequently, the more Liberal one is, the less capable of accurately testing, integrating, and understanding the reality around them.

So limiting, just as we find in other addictions, Liberal Mindsets, too, act to competitively reduce and prejudicially attenuate all dissenting opinions to mere noise outside the system, rather than points of view deserving of further investigation.  Thus, the self-indulgent Liberal Mindset remains practically unchallengeable, touting that there is no other intelligent point of view but their own.  Such a strategy also provides an unparalleled ease to lie about anything, often through selective recall in memory or by focusing upon other self-induced fragmentations and perceptions, never questioning the bump in their inconsistent road.

This result of being so compromised as to be unable to fairly understand and comprehend the world around oneself is most important for us to understand.  For how could any of us want to listen to, much less be led by, those whose heads remain buried in their own self-importance and remain preoccupied with continually satisfying same.  Any direction coming from such realms is surely more wrong than right most of the time.  In this light, far from being intelligent, Liberalism is actually found to be anti-intellectual.

The immediate ramifications of such a finding would be that those that demonstrate more of these Liberal cognitive tendencies than not, are generally those least equipped to be our leaders in any area of life---including education, religion, politics, law, and the media---since they generally cannot see beyond the box in which they live, though they pedantically claim superior sentience.

As will become more clear, here, I am defining Liberality as a form of thinking, not simply as a political definition of a person per say.  It's much more than a label we assign to someone.  To be sure, the inherent and often unseen powers of Liberal thinking go well beyond a simple sociopolitical definition, but a telling habitual dysfunction.

Also, please understand from the onset that Liberality, per say, is not simply found or solely practiced in one political party or another..., although it is interesting to note that most of the numbers of individuals entertaining such mentation are those Democrats of the Left.  Nevertheless, hiding amongst the Right are those that are very Left as well.

As will become more clear, I am defining Liberality as a form of insular thinking, not simply as a political definition of a person per say.  It's much more than a label we assign to someone.  To be sure, the inherent and often unseen powers of Liberal thinking go well beyond a simple sociopolitical definition.  Rather, I believe it evolves into a telling habitual dysfunction, though yet to be formalized in the literature, still something real and actual.

I believe that over time such habitual thinking can suspend, if not thwart entirely, the goodly individual development intended by our Creator, and work to substitute something foreign and malignant in its place----much like alcoholism or pornography can damage the perceptual skills and retard the personality of its users.

In this month's newsletter, I will begin to make my case with examples of what I'm talking about.  But I will need the additional space of future newsletters to thoroughly advance this understanding and make my point more salient.

But before I begin to be more specific about these suppositions, let's first examine a fundamental position that courses through the Liberal Mindset of which we should all become familiar and understand.

You may have already experienced that whenever one engages within an argument or debate with someone skilled in Liberalities, the conversation generally and quickly degrades into one of venomous and vitriolic contention.

Ideally, appropriate and civil debate involves the need to find the objective truth of things, wherein the facts of the matter are generally discussed and debated with an eye as to what priorities and weights should be assigned to the facts at hand (i.e. how important they are and what bearing they may have on the topic at hand)----and with those measures and probabilities secured, the derivation of a respected conclusion or understanding is at hand.  Here, the debate is primarily centered around the discovery and subsequent weighting of certain facts, and how important those factors then become to the overall picture, providing a solution of the equation at hand.  Well...,that's what supposed to happen...

Unfortunately, the Liberal mind-set knows no such consistency nor regards such adroit skill as necessary.  Whereas most of us accept the general immutability of things once they are accepted as "factual," quite tellingly, liberal cognitive strategies involve the assumptions that "facts" are not stubborn but relative things, and thus can be twisted into other shapes and forms to suit their own hidden self-absorbed and largely hypocritical programs.

Page 3

Thus, without too much of a stretch, I will argue here that what is known as the Liberal Mindset, be it in Washington or Hollywood, is increasingly tied to and subtly associated with that which can only be described as evil, since it tends to quietly lead us away from goodness and the truth about things rather than towards them.  Again, anything that is found to be an influence for the worst, cannot possibly be influential for the best, even of Goodness itself.

Moreover, such a Mindset believes that "facts" can be "parsed" and further separated and isolated from their own foundation of contiguity, and somehow still retain their authority and integrity----as if one could separate every individual thread from a piece of woven fabric, actually destroying the weave but still insisting that the integrity of the cloth has been preserved, even though it then no longer exists.

To Liberals, "facts" are an ever-changing phenomena, things that can simultaneously transmute into something ironically mirroring their own expectations, much like the quantum profiling of subatomic particles.  Thus, according to Liberal strategy, the facts of any matter may be engineered to appear and disappear for them, through slight of hand or otherwise, whenever their own self-serving agendas and needs demand to be satisfied.

It's not surprising then that arguments and debates with Liberal Mindsets quickly break-down, often devolving into the refutation of what is "fact" and what is not, when it can be used and when it can be ignored, the real more important issues becoming drowned out in the minutia of an ever-changing distracting landscape of contentiousness.

The intransigence nature of a fact is often discredited and dismissed out of hand, especially when it stands in the way of their cherished point of view.  With the ability to arbitrarily disregard the facts or extinguish preexisting fundamental truths, nothing worthwhile or logical can thereafter be built upon as all contiguity itself has been abolished.  Then, only confusion reigns....

Obviously, with the lack of such discipline, there is often little or no progress in understanding, no breakthroughs or epiphanies possible with Liberal discourse.  When the very facts are treated in such an off-handed and arbitrary manner, there is little value for the discussion going any further.  Minds that have become so closed leave no room for question or consideration.  Steeped in their own self-ingratiating circuits, nothing is allowed access, nothing can be further impacted or instructed.  This is much like trying to talk to someone who actually is unaware that they speak a different language, never thinking it necessary to find a common vocabulary.

And here's something else we must consider.  I have come to believe, as has many others have, that anything that acts against the cause of Goodness, or indiscriminately persuades one to less "good" rather than do and believe in that which tends towards more "Goodness," is "bad."  And anything that acts to promote the opposite of that which is Good or discourages that which tends toward Goodness, must be by definition, that which is "evil," no matter the politically correct and socially acceptable hegemony that masks its hidden interests.

Everything we touch in life has repercussions, for the better or worse.  We all make mistakes, in thought, word and deed.  Yet sadly, not all of us wish to learn by our mistakes, nor refine the means whereby we continually reengage life.  For it is through the introspective and retrospective analysis of our individual lives, that we are most capable of learning what activities are productive and persuasive of doing more good, as compared to those that are non-producing of goodness and are bad, ultimately leading to the destruction of life and all that it portends.

Page 4

It's not surprising then that arguments and debates with Liberal Mindsets quickly break-down, often devolving into the refutation of what is "fact" and what is not, when it can be used and when it can be ignored, the real more important issues becoming drowned out in the minutia of an ever-changing distracting landscape of contentiousness. The intransigence nature and immutability of facts is often discredited and dismissed out of hand, especially when it stands in the way of their cherished point of view.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand these things, and be able to see and judge the matters of life before us.  By casual observation, most of us can see if something good comes from something or not.  All we have to do is pay attention and patiently wait for the fruit of any tree to ripen, so that it can, in turn, be examined and tasted, and summarily judged sweet or bitter.  The knowing of these things is only impossible when we lose our focus and patience, and thereafter rush to judgment----judging blindly and often unrighteously.

Accordingly, through such an informal and common sense process, I have come to understand that, generally, everything which the Liberal agenda touches or attempts to direct, seems to suffer for the worst, turning goodness further out of its way, and specifically turning us away from that which is inherently good, discouraging us rather than persuading us to embrace more of that which is Good and turning us instead to the ways of evil....

Thus, without too much of a stretch, I will argue here that what is known as the Liberal Mindset, be it in Washington or Hollywood and everywhere in between, is increasingly tied to and subtly associated with that which can only be described as "evil," since it tends to slyly lead us away from Goodness and the truth about things rather than towards them.  Again, I am suggesting that anything that is found to be an influence for the worst, that acts to promote the worst, cannot possibly be influential for the best, even of Goodness itself.

Indeed, I believe that the jeremiad of Liberality and the motives of evil are becoming increasingly more synonymous with one another.  Unapologetically, I will begin to show that both seem to work against Goodness in all of its forms.  Both seek to aggrandize themselves at the expense of all others.  Both seek to rewrite laws in their own image.  Both ultimately seek to debase the humanity of man.  Both seek to undermine the divinity of God, and that which God has placed with great sacrifice within man.  Both mock the needs for religious values and morals, refusing the acknowledgement of a Higher Power.  Both are fundamentally anarchistic, as both seek to overthrow the tenets of Goodness.

To me, it seems that with every passing day, the sheep are being separated from the goats, and the difference between the two are becoming increasingly more clear.  Not that I wish to rehash all the contentious hypocrisy that has been in the news of late, but a quick recounting will serve as yet another real life parallel as to what may be happening to us practically and spiritually when the liberally indoctrinated attempt to lead us, educate us, and create policies for us.

As we will now recount, in this season of political spin and accusation, the demand for accuracy, fairness and truth have certainly proven to be rare commodities.

(1)  The liberal media, acting ever more like a propaganda machine for the Left (are we really surprised?) has assumed the dubious position of an International Tribunal, claiming authority and making cultural laws through its self-appointed means of Political Correctness, reporting only that which serves the nepotism of the liberal elite, and duly misinforming the public of any story that may challenge its cause by concocting strategies of disinformation.  The twisted agenda:  only report that which is self-serving of your political persuasion....even mislead others to the degree of parsing the facts and thereafter remaking history in your own image.  The less facts that are on the table, the easier it is to make and claim superior your own point of view.

Page 5

Yet, the elite media's "measure" has never been challenged.  Because WMDs have yet to be found, doesn't mean that they still don't exist both in the sands of Iraq or as part of Syria's growing arsenal.  But because the media has pronounced that everybody has had enough time to find the alleged weapons, that's it.... According to them, time's up.  Having not found them within their specific timeframe automatically defaults to the conclusion that they were never there in the first place....

(2)  As a recent specific example, we've been summarily notified by the elite press that since Iraq's WMDs haven't been found, it simply proves that they don't exist and haven't since the last decade----something that I have never been able to believe as past newsletters have attested.  Somewhere along the way, the media has actually invented its own arbitrary measures and time-lines for the discovery of WMDs, findings often supported by the bureaucratic inspectors who were consistently fooled by Iraq ploys more times than not in the decade since the Gulf War.

According to their wisdom, having not found WMDs within their specific timeframe automatically defaults to the conclusion that they were never there in the first place....  The twisted agenda:  making up their own rules and arbitrarily changing them whenever it suits them, confuses the opposition and deceitfully guarantees them an advantage..., possibly a win.  Never let the other side discuss the legitimacy of the rule book or the measures derived therefrom....

(3)  And the above story continues to make my point.  It's now more than obvious that liberal agendas don't want there to be any WMDs because it better serves their cause of discrediting the current administration and creating the myth that Iraq and Terrorism have never been connected.  They hanker for more proof, resisting the obvious, demanding the connections rise to levels of significance beyond reason, or at least some verbal snippet of a Democrat's unfounded accusation to believe such a thing.

Since they have successfully led everyone to believe that if WMDs were not found within so many months after the invasion of Iraq, then they won't be found thereafter, they are then ever more eager to assure that their arbitrary measures and expectations remain viable.

The only problem with such a position is that once evidence begins to accumulate to the contrary----as the recently discovered (06/04) tons of VX Nerve Gas from "Syria via Iraq" captured in a plot to overthrow the Jordanian government proves, as well as the well documented newly published books which now remind us and begins to fully document the reality of Saddam's weapons and the fact that they didn't just disappear nor were they destroyed----the media will be most reluctant to report of it, and certainly be less inclined to connect the dots for anyone else as it doesn't serve their cause.  The twisted agenda:  when information suppression is unsuccessful and strategies of disinformation prove potent-less, simply marginalize the information and let it die on the vine... or change gears, distracting others with other senseless but sensationalized information.

(4)  Lately, Liberals have called for the actually banning of the Swiftboat Veteran's book, "Unfit for Command," formally demanding that the publisher cease from printing and distributing the book----in direct opposition to the tenets of "free speech" they say they alone are appropriately equipped to protect.  Astounding!  The twisted agenda:  Don't face and debate the issues... free speech is only a right for them, not anyone else... accusations from challengers (no matter how heroically decorated) should be summarily dismissed as cheap smears rather than responsibly investigated, whereas opposing Liberal criticisms remain uncontested and should be given the Pulitzer prize for journalistic insight.

Liberal minds don't want us to remember that this same Democratic philosophy of today is that which originally fought against the moral positions of Abraham Lincoln, wanting to preserve the inhumanity of slavery for their economic and cultural benefit.  Later, much to their continuing shame, they fought against the establishment of civil rights and worked to preserve the segregation of the first half of the last century, all recently well documented by a prominent black author.

(5)  Hollywood's liberal elite have a tendency to degrade and continually blur the differences between right and wrong in most of the films they produce, often crossing the line in the sand, slowly eroding away at the basis of what is good and what is evil, often slyly mocking and undermining the foundations of our culture.  Rarely are we uplifted.  Rarely have the qualities and ensigns of Goodness been reinforced.  The twisted agenda:  the continual blurring of right and wrong will make future judgments or challenges irrelevant, as the lines will then eventually become erased, made socially inappropriate, and given the poison of being Politically Incorrect.

(5)  Historically, Liberal mindsets created a secular welfare system, touting to make us all more socially responsible, teaching us all to care for others in need or  disadvantaged.  Yet under the guise of that compassion, they created policies and laws that only proved to wrongly enslave others economically for generations while diminishing the needs for self-responsibility.  It took us years to finally undo their mistaken directions and appropriately reform the welfare system, all while Liberal minds and supporting special interest groups were calling the reformers unfeeling heartless traitors.... The twisted agenda:  irresponsibility is a humanistic and secular "right" somehow given to all mankind so as to empower the government at the expense of individuals..., a direction challenged only by doting fools and stupid heathen conservatives.

(6)  Liberal minds don't want us to remember that this same Democratic philosophy of today is that which originally fought against the moral positions of Abraham Lincoln, wanting to preserve the inhumanity of slavery for their economic and cultural benefit.  Later, much to their continuing shame, they fought against the establishment of civil rights and worked to preserve the segregation of the first half of the last century yet rarely owned up to by today's liberal elites, all recently well documented by an esteemed great American who also happens to be prominent black journalist and author, Dr. Thomas Sowell.

Ironically though, Liberal Mindsets have been exceptionally successful in selling just the opposite story, while blaming the party of Lincoln for all the woes of the Black community.  On the surface, they continually claim that they alone speak for the rights of Black-Americans, but have in the past, as they do now, continually create policies that work directly against them, keeping the inner cities squalid, and the schools and the education they tentatively provide crippled...., fighting against any positive influence in making Public Schools responsible, or empowering the parents to choose what school is best for their children.  The twisted agenda:  the continual ranting of the past victimization of a race, even though the Liberal ideology is largely responsible, will indebt minority voters to Democrats for generations to come...i.e., it's more profitable to maintain the problems of the underprivileged, than to actually solve their problems and free them from their conditions...  A Welfare State secures the promise for yet a bigger government.

(6)  Under the dominant purview of the Liberal Mindset of the 90's, they furtively underestimated the powers of our remaining enemies, and drastically cut the budget of our Intelligence Community, crippling operations that will take at least 10-15 years to rebuild, while decreasing the defensive posture of the USA by attempting to strip the updating of our technology and armaments.  The twisted agenda:  nobody really sees anything more worthwhile or or more accurately than the Liberal mind.  Other opposing perceptions of the enemy's independence and proclivity towards evil are invalid, as everybody should be able to sit down and talk out our differences peacefully, especially if the U.N. is involved....And, oh yes:  France (the mother of self-absorption) has never done anything wrong, so we should always listen to her leaders and do what they say....

The result of all these liberal agendas incontrovertibly  persuades one to ignore good and instead serve evil, or in the least allow it to remain uncontested....

Well, I'm running out of space for this month.  I'll continue on next month with more insights and examples of both the debilitating psychology and behavior of the Liberal Mindset, showing again how such ideology only leads us away from Goodness, fairness, and justice, not towards it.  Junk in....Junk out!

Remembering that the best predictor of one's future behavior is one's past behavior, we should all become more aware of the liabilities of Liberal Mindsets, the jeremiad which they represent, and where some so inclined would lead us, given half a chance....
